by our Ace guy.
Oh, I'm kicking myself. I really need to learn to go with my GUT!
I ran out of my Ace trim paint in the "Ultra White". Went to pick up a gallon today. The guy found my paint and shook it up. I did some other shopping and looked at my paint can and noticed it said "High Hiding White". I put it back and grabbed the one I wanted and asked him to shake it up. He got half rude with me and told me it was the same thing. Said the Ultra White is a base tint (which yes, it says that on the can) and since I wanted white I should use the High Hiding. He kept saying "exactly the same". I've compared it on samples for people blah, blah. Then before I left he said, if it doesn't look the same when you first put it on it will dry. ?!
After my trip I thought of our previous conversation about the colors and you mentioned they were different.
"You might want to compare the High-Hiding White to the regular Ultra-White base. The HHW is a whisker grayer/browner. You'd have to see them side-by-side though! "
"The HHW is only the SLIGHTEST bit different from the Ultra-white tint-base. As I mentioned, you'd have to have them side-by-side to tell much difference"
They're going to be side by side in some areas of my house! Example, my laundry room door needs painted. The trim and the other two doors right in that area are all painted the Ultra White. Do you think it's going to be noticeable? The prepainted/preprimed whatever they are white doors that came with the house don't match it and that's why I was painting them..becaues it bugged me. The Ultra is through 80% of the upstairs now!
I swapped out a gallon once before because I bought the wrong one so I suppose to could take this one back too but it's a wasted trip and a wasted night as I wanted to finish painting my laundry room cabinets.
I guess I'll just have to see later when I try it but wanted some thoughts or feedback.
