Behr paint quality declining?

I've been using Behr paint for a number of years and have always been happy with the quality. I'm on my third house in seven years, the first two used Behr both interior and exterior and was happy with the coverage, sometimes getting by with just one coat if it was a similar color. I'm painting another house now (this one's a keeper). I used Behr interior plus primer to paint the inside, the store said it had better coverage with the primer, I was disappointed that I had to use at least 4 coats, granted I was painting white over medium brown. Now I'm tackling the exterior trim. It's a light grey, and I'm painting that white as well. The exterior plus (Super White) is very thin, and even three coats aren't quite up to my standards. The first coat hardly shows a difference in color between the grey and the white the paint goes on so thinly. It has been well stirred. My question is, has the quality declined that much? Or maybe my memory is failing (a distinct possibility). I always read this was a quality paint.

Poor coverage is usually due to the color and the color you are painting over. Whites don't really cover well in any brand. If anything, Behr paint is currently at the highest quality it has ever been. There still isn't primer in the can though. That's just a marketing lie.

I always read this was a quality paint.

In my personal experience, this has NEVER been the case.

@paintguy- The paint with primer certainly holds a lot better than the one without. I can tell when I'm cleaning up, as it's next to impossible to get off my hands, whereas the regular paint peels right off. Their primer is actually an enamel, that may have something to do with it.

A paint can have good adhesion properties, but that doesn't mean there is primer in the can. A better quality paint is going to be harder to get off your hands and usually, when a company uses the 'primer in the can' marketing gimmick, that's their top line paint. I don't know what you mean by saying 'their primer is actually an enamel'. All the word enamel means is film forming. In other words, on the top of the dried paint film is a hard skin. All primers will have this and all paints that have a sheen (washable paints) will have this too. The only thing that isn't an enamel are flat paints and stains.
