Need help with SW Proclassic on a large vertical space

| I need some help! I am painting new unfinished kitchen cabinetry with SW Proclassic Latex. It has been quite a learning curve, but I am getting good results on the door and drawer fronts after a little practice on these horizontal surfaces.
My concern is with a large 4 x 6 ft inset in the island and another large inset area in the peninsula. So far I have used Purdy Chinex brushes on the doors and drawer fronts with good results, (horizontal painting) but this paint is really hard to work with on a large flat vertical surface. I feel like I should be using rollers or because this is too large a surface for the brush alone. I am thinking about a rolling and tipping method. Any suggestions? Thank you! |

| use a flocked velour roller for rolling out and then tip it off. Don't roll and reroll. Roll it on , tip it off and move on. You can use just a tad of x-tender in your proclassic. You won't get a drag this way and the finish will lay down really nice. |

| Thank you! I have those rollers on hand, so thanks for confirming what I was hoping to hear. The guys at SW told me I could add about an ounce of water to a gallon of proclassic. Does that serve the same purpose as the x-tender? |

| Use Muralo ultra high gloss. Pro classic is like trying to paint w Elmer's glue isn't it. Use a tight nap mini roller and a small cut in brush for the detailed areas. |

| tvan, No, I would not suggest using water either, especially with a waterborne enamel such as proclassic. Water never helps unless you are doing some type of decorative paint finish. I prefer XIM x-tender instead of Floetrol. Floetrol always has to many goobers in it. oh and the roller I mentioned is not your typical foam roller. IMO foam rollers are a really bad choice with anything unless it is brushed out. |

| Thank you. I bought the x-tend. You said add a smidge, so I suppose no more than an ounce per gallon? Regarding the rollers, I already experimented with the foam rollers and wasn't happy with the finish (also SW suggestion). I found some Wooster red feather velour rollers 1/4 in nap at Ace so this what I have on hand. My biggest technique issue is how much paint to load on the roller. Too much and I get sagging, too little and I can't tip it off as well. This stuff sure has a learning curve associated with it! |
