turn a mistake into a what?

I've had wallpaper pallets on the walls of my 2 story foyer since I bought this house. The original wallpaper was replaced about 7 or 8 yrs ago. I've never liked the color of the walls around it. It was just so, so. I wanted to make a change and keep the paper in the pallets because I still like it. The walls have been painted Ben Mo Ticondoroga taupe #992 with the trim in Ben Mo Marscapone. Now rather than having the walls look washed out by the wall paper in the pallets it's the reverse. I like the new wall colors and trim but now somehow the paper, regrettably, must go. I'm thinking about no more paper and adding color within the trim. Any suggestions of what to do, specifically color? I'm painting all the rooms on the first floor with deep rich colors. Should I pick up one of those colors or something different? And then what is the best way to do it: I really don't want to strip paper anymore.
