paint vinyl soffit?

Our painter is prepping to paint our new cement siding. He said he would just go ahead and paint the soffits too. I stopped him and said we are happy with the white vinyl as is. Is there a need to paint them, and would it hold up? He is using SW superpaint. Just curious.

If the proper prep is done, it would hold up for quite a while, but why? If you're happy with it white, then there is not need to paint. I'd leave it alone.
