can't get home colors right.

Hello everyone. I am remodeling and am having a heck of a time coordinating the colors of the new roof, new windows and new gutters/soffit with the current siding.

The color of the windows, gutters, soffit will be white. The color of the roof will be a medium to dark gray (like a slate color) and the current sidding is a tannish gray.

For some reason I cannot tell if this combo will look ok. I would be glad to upload a pic but it doesn't seem to allow me to do so here.

Also - Is there a general rule about how many colors you can have on a home? I mean between the roof, siding, front door, house "skirt", windows and gutters etc. From looking online the average seems to be 3-5.

Any feedback is appreciated.

You can't post a photo here directly. You need to post it on a site like photobucket.com or tinypic.com and then provide the link. And more people will see it if you post on the Home Decorating forum instead of the Paint forum.
