We hired some painters to do some interior work in our new house recently. The trim was painted in a latex semi-gloss over some 20 year old oil paint. The painters sanded all surfaces with sanding sponges, possibly wiped them down (I didn't see) then sprayed 2 coats of latex semi-gloss. It's been about 2 weeks and apart from some areas that appear to have never adhered from day 1, the paint seems super soft and scratches off easily. Anything that lightly bumps the trim is causing the paint to peel off (I say peel because it doesn't seem hard enough to really flake or chip). Does it just need more time to fully cure or was it improperly applied?
