How to paint indoor pvc plastic handrail ?

Hi everyone
Im new here and we have just started to remodel our home. Its a rental so were keeping the costs low at this point.

Something that we want to change is the dreaded plastic handrail cover color. I googled and could not find a single person whos asking the same thing. I must be the only one :)

I want it to be a espresso color or dark walnut brown. They are on plain iron spindles. Also can i add knuckles to them without cutting? Thanks in advance.

heres a pic of the handrail covers
