I've never refinished wicker but I have a couple of thoughts:

The chair will be dusty - you are going to have to clean it throughly (maybe compressed air) , and wipe with a damp cloth.

If the chair has been varnished - you can't restain it - but you can use a colored varnish.

If the chair hasn't been varnished then you could use a tinted rubbing oil.

That dusty looking matte taupe stain appearance is original to the chair, though it may have faded a bit. I have a shop vac and planned to use to it to brush and vacuum the chair. I don't see or feel a varnish.

I had thought I would use Minwax Spray Wood Finish in Dark Walnut as a one step complete process.

That's Minwax is a tinted varnish. I think it will work well.

Minwax makes good products.

Thanks for the additional info on this product. Sometimes you think you might have a solution, but you need someone else to confirm what you're thinking.

Unfortunately, no big box store where I live seems to have it on their shelves. I may have order it on-line to get it. Darn.

Beverly is this what you ended up using? Is the second picture the finished product? Also did you use the liquid dander everyone suggests? I want to do my chairs and need tips. Thank you
