| My house is in a brutal climate and has to be painted every 4-5 years. I want to switch to an opaque stain - the same color as the existing paint. My plan is to scrape off the peeling paint and stain the bare spots. As the paint continued to peel, I'd continue to replace it with stain until the whole house is stained. The first time, I'd stain the whole house if necessary, including staining over the paint. Will that work? |

| No - it's a recipe for disaster. Either strip off everything and stain or scrape, spot prime and repaint. |
