How to fix paint texture proble

Hello, we have painted a wall in our hall twice because of obvious roller marks (same color). Then we primed and painted it again. The wall looks much better except for around the thermostat where we used a brush. It has a different texture and it looks like a square around it. How can we make it look better? Thanks for any advice? Pat

Remove the thermostat before you paint so you can do the whole wall with the roller, then reinstall it. Or tape the thermostat's edges and use a small roller so it matches the wall.

It also sounds like you didn't feather the paint away from the thermostat to make the brush work less obvious. See the link

The link Lazygardens gave is excellent -- in addition, I'll describe my technique which you can try. Take your brush (not fully loaded) and feather a fresh box around the thermostat.

Have a 3" or 4" roller handy that you used somewhere else ... meaning it isn't loaded with paint. Angle the roller, or lie it flat if you have room, and get very, very close to the Thermostat. Roll it ever so lightly to cover the brush swipes. Voila!

You have several minutes to repeat if you have to. Good luck!
