Painiting a Freestanding Fireplace's Metal Flue

Some creep scratched the factory sprayed enamel finish on a metal rail which is painted the same color (cream) as the 25 ft suspended fireplace. Both need to be painted now. How would one paint a metal surface which might get pretty hot, though it is insulated with an inner sleeve, without leaving streaks or having it peel? Can you spray high temp stove paint? Has anyone done this?

Yep, that's what you do. I watched the fireplace repair guy touch up nicks on my fireplace with high temp paint.
