Want painters to paint ceiling vents? Possible?

Hello this is crazy (I think) but is it possible to have ceiling vents and the cans around the recessed lighting the same as our ceiling color? If so how do I go about asking our painter to do this is their a special paint to be used, we are using SW flat Alabaster ceiling and in my kitchen in the cofer ceiling we used a flat finish in Accessible beige and in master we are using BM Icicle and we have recessed lighting as well as speakers etc...Need to tell these painters something this week any ideas? I just hate that stark white on cans, vents etccc

The cans can just be painted. If the vents are metal I would sand and prime them first. I just usually shoot some Kilz from a spray can on them before painting with the ceiling/wall paint.

Thks paintguy for your step by step instructions but after getting his price of 500 bucks to do this... nahhh my husband said he will do it! And I did ask the painter I know it can be done but wanted a quick answer here first not to mention the builder was giving me a bunch of BS etc....

If you are using BM paint, the True Value hardware stores that carry BM have a machine that will mix up any BM color in a spray can. Spraying the vents will be easier than using a brush! I have a few spray can waiting to paint my vents, but I have my eye on some custom vents that would go really well with my spanish style house ... need to make up my mind!
