| There are a number of ways to ask this question. What is the most durable color for exterior paint? Is there any reason to add anything to the base, white color of any particular brand other than to make it some color that I like to look at?
The reason I ask is that I am painting existing, white, exterior trim. Basic white if fine with me. I would like to make the finish last as long as it practically will. If it makes any difference, I am in a Gulf South climate, hot and humid. I will be painting wood. Should I want more pigment in there for any reason other than visual stimulation or is less more? |

| Light colors hold up better than dark colors. A little color will hide dirt better, but doesn't offer any sun protection. |

| A slightly greyed color will look better for longer than a "true" color. That's because when colors fade, they tend to go a bit grey. |
