Hi all,

I'm a completely new in this, so please bear with me. My flat has just got new wallpaper done by a builder. Unfortunately I accidentally ripped out parts of it when the air conditioner cover was removed which was stuck on using duct tapes, as attached.

As depicted, the bricks are now clearly visible after the tear. Is this supposed to be normal? Isn't there supposed to be a layer of 'stuff' (cement?) between the wallpaper and brick? The white stuff looks like some kind of adhesive rather than cement. I'm just concerned that the builder went thin on the cement or whatever it was that should have been applied on the bricks. Does it look like that the builder had done a shabby job or does it look normal? The wallpaper is of the traditional type and is not peel-and-stick.

Any advice will be much appreciated!
