All of these inspiration photos from my files are painted cabinets. While most are probably brand new, it shows you that they don't have to be stained to look good. Some of these photos are from posters on here and I don't have time to put credits on them. Many are from other magazine websites or blogs that have inspired me. Because i am not considering replacing my somewhat new cabs but, hate the stain that is one them that is like orange, I am using these to inspire me to move forward and use what I have. So here are bunch of examples.

One big more modern difference is that the newer cabinets are all inlay or flush doors to the frames ( I forget what they call them) and that makes a difference. Mine are all overlay doors with raised panels. It's funny though if I reversed them they would be just like all the more transitional doors at IKEA and all those places.
