Stain is bleeding thru Zinsser 123?

I'm painting a stained cedar ceiling. I started with just Benjamin Moore paint and it looked great. Then I decided I'd better go ahead and prime, just to be safe. The primer IMMEDIATELY turned orange! Then I painted the primer over the area I'd painted with Ben Mor and it turned orange, too! Even though it was already dry. Does anyone know what the heck??

need to prime with BIN or an oil based primer like Cover Stain

Concurring on CN's advice!

One...MAYBE 2 coats of BIN primer (Shellac-based).

THEN...paint

Thanks for the advice, and I will heed it. (As much as I was hoping to avoid oil-based primer!)

But...I MUST know why the stain didn't bleed through plain old paint!? Does anyone know? Can anyone guess?

Show me a picture. It may not be bleeding through the primer. Primer doesn't have to block the stain from view, just seal it in.
