has anyone used liquid sander?

I'm sanding stain off chest of drawers. Plan to paint it white. My question is - should I use liquid sander? I hear it really has a bad odor. Does it really improve the finished project? Thanks, Carol

Skip it and do it the old fashioned way

Yep!

Skip this stuff and use actual sandpaper!!
The "Liquid-sandpaper" crap is VERY high in solvents/VOC's, usually smells horrible, and is only good for ~1/2hr.!!

After that short period, you'd have to reapply it.....yuck!

I actually discourage our customers from this crappy "shortcut"....

Nothing beats the ACTUAL surface "tooth" created by a thorough scuff-sanding.
Obviously, remove ALL dust b4 priming.

For chest of drawers, I'd sand. I'm planning to refinish a dining table and its a pedestal carved lion claw one, I'll need to use the liquid sander on tough spots that sander won't reach into... But any even surface, I agree, sanding is best.

If the finish coat will be paint liquid sandpaper sounds like a waste of money and brain cells. The solvents will drive you right out if you don't have a window open or something.
