Paint the edges of exterior door?

My front door is unstained fir, sealed with clear spar varnish. The surface is in good shape. I want to keep the INTERIOR of the door the natural wood color, but would like to paint the EXTERIOR deep blue.

My question: should I paint the edges of the door or leave them as they are and paint the exterior face only. The door rubs against the frame in places and I'm concerned that if I paint the edges, that blue will rub off on the door frame.

doors need to be finished on all 6 sides to prevent expansion, contraction, warping, moisture infiltration, etc.

Read the top door edge. It's usually stamped there.

If the door edges were previously sealed with varnish, then you obviously don't need to seal the 4 edges.
