Agree with the fence thought. Red is an unnatural color on a hyper-natural surface and the two worlds clash. Even actual redwood is usually stained waaaaaayyyy past the point of any natural wood color, but both the deck color and the HOUSE colors are going to call the shots on fence color.

Bricks can be painted well and they can look good plain, stained, sandblasted, and so on, but for all effective purposes, once you paint brick you're pretty much committed to having your brick coated with paint forever and a day. Like the fence, the bricks are secondary to the house colors.
