| We have an open floor plan with a great room and foyer 2-stories high. Pictures below are BEFORE we painted. The great room has one wall with a lot of windows that faces West:
Both the great room and foyer have oak floors:
And here is the Foyer (which faces East):
We are somewhat traditional in style but we have a liking for contemporary/modern styles too. We are looking for something interesting, NOT "boring beige". Right now we have a brown leather sectional in the great room which is modern in style (low profile, clean lines) and we have a TV console made out of wood that is dark red in color. Everything else is a clean canvas. We are thinking about putting an accent color on the GR wall with all the windows and painting the rest of the GR and Foyer another color. Looking for contemporary/modern color combos to consider for this, or any other ideas to consider. We realize color comes down to personal choice, but so far, we have not been able to settle on a color(s). We are hoping to get some color combos that are tried and true for us to consider. If you have any pictures, that would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer! |

| If all you have is a sofa and TV, maybe you should focus on furnishings, including area rugs and window treatments. That might influence what colors you want on the walls. But to answer your question, maybe you could pull a color from the fireplace stone? Or, gray is extremely popular now. Go to the Home Decorating forum to read lots of discussions on shades of gray that people have been using. And there is something to be said for neutral walls and great artwork. |

| Gray is sophisticated and modern. There are warm grays and cool grays so you want to be sure to get the color that works with your wood flooring and furnishings. Check at your local Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore stores and see what grays are popular right now. Another idea - one of SW's top selling colors is Blonde, which is a neutral beige/gold. There are quite a few photos in the Gallery featuring Blonde. Beautiful entry! |
