Prime?

I started painting my room. Decided I don't like the colors and am going to go in a totally different direction. I am going to paint the beadboard and trim BM Floral White. I am going to switch the rest of the wall to BM Violet Petal.

I am definitely going to prime the beadboard with Zinsser 123 because I am going from dark to light. But I'm not sure if I have to also prime the rest of the wall. Currently 2 walls are painted Behr Graceful Gray (the color I have decided I don't like) and the other 2 are their original color still of a very light lilac.

Will I get even color with 2 coats of a quality paint without having to prime especially with the current walls being a medium shade and a light shade?

Also, what is the best finish for the beadboard? The same as the trim since it will be the same color?

Thanks!
Kathy
