So I just moved into a house, it's a single story 1960's, 2000 square feet 3/3.5 with a maple wood kitchen and stainless steel appliances, standard 9 foot ceilings on a canal near the intracoastal.

I'm trying to give the home a modern but airy and nice feel. I'm a dude and a horrible designer I know what I like when I see it, but can't visualize for my life. My floors are marble saturnia throughout the house, and 2 bedrooms have wood floors.

There is a dining area that extends to the living room, a kitchen area that extends to a family room, and then the bedrooms.

I'm trying to figure out a color scheme for the home. I was thinking the family room and the kitchen should be some shade of gray (a lighter one) and then stain the kitchen cabinets white. I don't know if the gray should go throughout the house or not. Thoughts? Suggestions? I think I'm going to go with mainly black,white gray, for furniture in the home...what wall art color and pillow color will pop in that color scheme?
