Help! re: spray paint!

Hi,
I wanted to paint a nightstand for my daughter. Yesterday I sprayed the drawer with the white primer (zissner I think) and it did great. It dried well and smooth. Then I sprayed the top color coat. I was very happy with the way the drawer turned out.
I sprayed the primer for the rest of the piece today. It did not look as smooth as it did yesterday. Also it was kinda grainy looking. An hour later I went to flip it over, and some of it was still wet, and I smeared the primer on part of the leg. Yesterday was nice and warm and sunny, but today it got colder and was raining. Could that be the problem? Will it dry out when it gets warmer, or have I ruined it?

The primer should dry to touch in 30 minutes.

You haven't ruined it.

Sand the body of the nightstand to smooth and clean away dust.

Prime again with light coats following the can label instructions on drying and re-coating.

The grain of the wood will transfer through the primer and paint. If you want it glass smooth, you'll need to use a grain filler. I don't know if a nightstand cares. :)

It must have dried out and did fine, as I don't even remember having a problem with it now!
