First time home buyer and bought a new home. I was so focused on the bones of the house I overlooked the awful paint job from the previous owners:

- roller lines on ceiling
- significant paint drops on walls, chair rails, baseboards, and crown moldings
- master bedroom they painted over wallpaper
- high gloss paint on nearly all walls

I redid two smaller rooms myself and it took a lot of sanding, replacing baseboards, sparkle, etc. It took a few weeks and it still doesn't look as good as it should.

I was going to hire a professional to do the first floor which is around 1,000 soft but fear all this extra prep work will break the bank.

What do I do?
