How to touch up?

Posted by raj555000 (My Page) on

After the second coat on recent basement finishing, the electrician and tiler left smudges on the paint. I have left over paint. How do I do touch ups? Roller? Brush? Any particular techniques? I am afraid if my touch ups will be more worse than the smudges. Please help.

Thanks,
RK

Ideally, use a roller the same nap as the roller that was used to apply the paint initially. If you can simulate the stipple, then your touch ups have the best chance to blend in. You also want to feather out the edges of the touch-ups by lifting your roller off the wall as you roll away from the area you are touching up.

I have not tried it yet, but I like Faron's technique of using an old washcloth and dabbing on very light layers of paint to the spots.
