Need tips for painting molding

I bought 1 gallon of Valspar Ultra Kitchen & Bath paint & primer to paint my bathroom.
It's the consistency of vanilla pudding.
I'm doing the closet first.
It goes on the textured walls fine with a roller.
But when I paint 3/4" quarter round & baseboard moldings there are brush marks, the paint is so thick it won't level much at all.
Any suggestions for getting a smoother finish? So far I've only done the closet so brush marks in there are no big deal.
I'm thinking I may need a different brand of paint- in the same color - for the moldings, any suggestions?

I'm not familiar with Valspar, but most brands of paints have certain paint that is more designed for walls and paint that is designed for trim. You can try some extender to help the paint flow better...something like Floetrol or XIM.

as paintguy almost said, get some better paint made for trim
Valspar is not it
