Caulk the ceiling line?

We had the popcorn ceilings scraped and retextured in the house we just bought, and the drywall guy who did the work recommended that we caulk the ceiling line before we paint. I have painted many houses before and have never heard of this. In my experience, caulk can shrink and sag, so it seems like a bad idea? Is this something I should have been doing?

Only if needed
Quality caulk with not shrink and or sag, if applied properly

As I've painted rooms in our house, I've ALWAYS caulked ceiling/wall lines, and ALL vertical inside corners.
I'm not a painter by trade...been in retail paint at an upscale store for a decade now.
Joints looks much smoother!
