Best methods and products for beautiful glossy trim

I'm in the middle of removing old paint from my trim. Previous owners had latex over oil. Some places I've stripped all the way down to wood. Some places I've got oil showing but latex removed - do I need to remove all the way to wood?

For beautiful glossy trim I'm not sure what I should use - oil, alkyd, latex? If I've got some oil paint underneath do I need oil based primer? I know to sand between coats for a smooth finish.

Any suggestions would be great! The walls will be white so I want the trim to pop. Thanks!

Muralo Ultra Ceramic (good reviews by pros here and at my paint store) is supposed to be excellent for trim. It's a self-leveling paint. I saw some side by side samples in the store and they looked like oil but are non-yellowing.

Not sure on the prep over oil.

Thanks so much. I just looked it up and it seems that there are no Mural dealers anywhere around me. Boo.

BM promotes their Advance but I haven't heard any discussions on it.

Muralo Ultra anything needs only minimal prep over oil. Have a friend in another state get it for you. It will be worth it.
