Agreed flat on ceilings and eggshell on walls. No need for satin in kitchens anymore. In fact, it you are using Regal Select or Aura, I would use matte on all walls (it's what I used 5 years ago in my kitchen and it's holding up great)

I wanted a very durable paint finish on my ceiling in the dining room and kitchen. Mostly because we have a wood stove in the area and the ceilings need to be cleaned often.

I went with a one part epoxy paint (water based) from SW. Went on very easy with a nice semi-matte finish. Much richer looking than flat paint, but not shiny like semi-gloss.

A week after painting the ceiling I did the walls, and got some paint on the ceiling I didn't notice for a bit. Next day when I saw it, I was able to scrub it off the ceiling with no damage to the ceiling paint. Bad part is if you ever want to repaint, the ceiling needs to be sanded first. And you need to put on successive coats in a day or two before it cures much.
