Tips for painting textured walls

Hi there. I'm a novice painter, and am getting ready to paint my bedrooms. Just walls -- not ceiling (popcorned) or trim.

They have a slightly pebbled texture to them.

So, so far I've learned to get a thick, nappy roller, and to keep the sheen flat. Can I use eggshell? Any other tricks I need to know specifically for textured walls?
