Exterior Door (wood) Paint Recommendation

We are located in Southern California close to the beach. We brushed our fir front door with SW oil primer and then two coats of SW Solo satin (latex) per the recommendation of the SW employee, allowing a day of drying between coats. It's been two months since painting. If I touch the front door with my finger nail, there will be a visible scratch. The paint never hardened like advertised. We have four fir french doors that need to be painted. We want a paint that will dry hard and stand up reasonably well to the elements. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your advice.

I'm NOT an expert but I'm pretty sure that the experts will point you to Fine Paints of Europe door paint. I used FPE on my own front door and it is an amazing finish.

It would be good to find out what preparation steps you'll need to follow since the door has SW oil on it. Fine Paints of Europe has a very helpful staff and am sure they could help you.

The FPE is pricey paint, but for front doors, it's well worth it!

I used Fine Paints of Europe in one of the blue shades.
Within one year...from the sun...it had horridly changed colors. I'd not use it again.

I'm also in So Cal. I've been building cabinets, furniture and working on homes here in Los Angeles for more than thirty years and recently started importing a line of wood finishes from Italy. We have an excellent exterior finish system. Better than anything I could find here in the US. It consists of an impregnator and top coat. We are currently selling it to a major window manufacturer.
