'Rotating' your clothes.

One good organizing habit I have is this: I keep only three pairs of jeans. A good pair for dress-up, looks good with a sweater or blazer and heels. You know, the blue denim is still dark and it has no rips. A medium pair of jeans for around the house, shopping, etc. And the third, a sloppy ratty pair for cleaning and painting. I even wear the ratty jeans when I dye my hair. Anyhow, when you buy a new pair, the most recent new pair moves to the middle spot, your everyday jeans become the sloppy jeans, and the worst pair gets thrown out or ripped into cleaning rags.

Great minds think alike; that's how I manage most of my clothes and my sports shoes. Being diabetic I try to keep a close eye on my feet. I have one pair of "good" town/shopping trainers; two pair that I rotate daily for at home wear, and one grungy pair that is worn for yard work, painting, etc.

I use the same hierarchy system for white t-shirts. I wear them a lot with cardigans and misc layered outfits, and they can get dingy pretty fast.

I use a similar system for my exercise/walking shoes. When the tread starts to wear thin, I go out and buy a new pair and the old pair gets demoted to dog walking shoes, the old dog walking shoes get demoted to yard work status, and the old yard work shoes go bye-bye.
