Mom's House Is Stuffed With Furniture

| My mother is 82, widowed and blind. So she can't see what a hazard her home is. She has a house FULL of furniture. She has two couches in the living room, two coffee tables, and five or six chairs. What happened? Well, her cousin died and Mom inheirited all her furniture. Then my brother got divorced and his wife gave him all the furniture. Rather than give any of it away, Mom stuffed everything into her own fairly small house. I know she's not long for this earth, so I'll have the job of getting rid of it. Believe me, not one stick will make its way into MY house. The buck stops THERE. |

| jannie, my mom had a lot of stuff too. When she downsized, it was very difficult for her as that stuff represented her life. I'm choosing to look at her attitude about her stuff as a gift in a way, just so I don't fall into the same mindset! It's allowed me to let go of a lot of the miscellaneous clutter in my own life. Dealing with our parents accumulations always seems to be one of the passages in our lives, doesn't it? |
