utilizing space under the stairs

I have a gutted space under my stairs near my kitchen. The door opening is 36", the inside space is 42" wide, and it goes back 112" but it gradually slopes to a point at the bottom of the stairs. (Obviously I wouldn't use it all the way back in). I would like to use it as a pantry but I am not sure how to accomplish this mainly because of the slope caused by the stairs above. It seems a shame to have so much space but not be able to use it. What would be the most functional way to put in shelving under the stairs? How far in can I go? Does anyone have any ideas/pictures for me to build off of?
