Have you considered maybe a ottoman with a lid that lifts to store them in?
I took an old drawer from a dresser that was on it's last legs, added some legs, put a piece of plywood for the top, covered that with quilt batting and fabric and then hinged it to the drawer.

I got a nice basket for the same purpose at Christmas Tree Shops last year.

What about a wicker clothes hamper with a lid. I've seen some really nice looking ones.

TJmaxx, Bed Bath and Beyond or even Big Lots should have what you want. Pier one and World Market are where you should look first...after TJMaxx!

Around here, I would be looking at Michael's. I found one for less than $5 which I used in the family room for quilts and extra pillows. My favorite basket was made by a local basket maker. It has lasted me for over 25 years and still looks wonderful. You might check local craft fairs/antique shops if you would like something a bit different or unique.

I've been finding the same items at Big Lots that are half the price of my local K-Mart. Lately, I've been checking them out first.

Teaka if we knew what state you were in -it would help, but all of the above suggestions are good--big Lots, Michaels etc. also our Marakei which is a Japanese chain in the SoCal area has wonderful containers in their upstairs area.

You might also consider a trunk--that would turn it into a place to set a glass or magazine or even a lamp (though it would be a pain to have to take the lamp off to set the stuff out.

I just got a large straw carrier at Marshall's; they had more furniture and accessories than I had seen before at Marshall's This particular store was a remodeled Supermarket in Hawthorne,Ca.

If you have one in your area, Christmas Tree Shops often have a wide variety of baskets.
