My wife thinks everything I cook is delicious. Do you think she is taking advantage of me? I am not that good at cooking but I try!

It's probably two things - 1) you probably are a better cook than you give yourself credit for and 2) she knows a good thing when she sees it! even if your food is mediocre one day, she knows if she praises your efforts, you're more likely to keep cooking!

It looks something like Pachyveria 'exotica' (Pachyphytum x Echeveria), but Graptoveria or something even more 'in-between' is always possible. Pot-tipping is always a problem with such top-heavy succulents. The solution is to add ballast stones to the pot. The bigger and more off balance the plant, the heavier the stones. Of course, a prudent beheading once in awhile is always helpful to even things out. Root and pot the decapitated heads. I perform a series of public executions and resurrections this time of year. Try it, it's fun! Leaf recycling of the oldest leaves is normal, especially in winter when it's 'out with the old, in with the new'. In summer, it can be a sign of underwatering, but as long as it is the oldest leaves dessicating, there is nothing to worry about. I agree with Jeffrey, you are growing it well. Still working on it. I'm making progress slowly, but don't think all the bulbs will be in the ground when the snow hits Monday afternoon. We'll see... And, I did find a local nursery that still has some bulbs...rather picked over, but they may have what I need to fill in the holes. I bought 900 bulbs, but clearly should have bought more! And, I'm betting that when they come up next spring, I'm going to see many areas where I should have planted. So, while I'd like to have planted everything this fall, so I'm DONE planting, and can just enjoy and maintain my yard, I fear that is not the case.

sbp, I'd prob do the runner because of the angled floor. not sure why everyone is so down on the rug. I have one in front of my stove/island area and love it So, with that being said, I have to ask. Why did you go through all of the expense for the countertops/cabs, but left that horrible florescent light? especially when it's so easy and inexpensive to redo? I think what you could do to finish off that ceiling, is get a new light and line the inside ceiling portion of the box in beadboard or even wood. You can get simple wood flooring planks and nail or glue it. or beadboard that you paint a bright white (ignore these pendants. you'd do a track light, or a semi flush mount light) or, just finish the ceiling, paint it, and add some canned lights. (something more streamlined than these thick ones) Some of these aren't the finest examples of work, so keep that in mind. I'm just showing you what to do w/the inset box. (obviously you could have a drywall guy come out and completely cover it, and do recessed lights. But if that isn't in the budget, then do this. it's cheap) as for the wall, I'd do a larger piece of art, maybe a few small shelves over the light switch off to the left

Things always taste better to me when someone else makes it and- I am more critical of my own cooking. Keep up the good work! It is fun to do things others appreciate.

My husband is and excellent cook even though he doesnt think he is as good as I do and it is a little better when you dont do it yourself. Heck since my grandfather retired he cooks almost every night and he never did when he worked. Good thing he loves it my grandmother is a good cook and did it for all those years but she always hated cooking.

Over appreciated? Who knows? My husband can do limited cooking and does make meals for us occassionally, when I just don't feel up to the task. But he also has one of those recessive sex linked characteristics where he fails to realize he makes a mess and thus creates more work for me in the clean up than cooking the meal would have been in the long run. That's not to say that he doesn't try his best. If you happen to have the dominant gene for the trait and also clean up your mess after cooking, then your wife probably over appreciates you. It you have that recessive gene trait and leave a mess trail behind you for her to clean, then she just probably enjoys your cooking style.
By the way, cooking should be a shared task. It makes the person who does the least amount of cooking in the household more appreciative of sitting down to a prepared meal that they didn't have to cook. My husband was taught by his father that NO ONE was served or to begin to eat before the person who prepared the meal was seated, served and began to eat.

I always appreciate if someone else will cook and give me a night of, or two, or three....
You don't mention her cooking, or if she enjoys it, etc. Melissa mentioned it should be a shared task and I agree. I hope you mean you have fun trying and you enjoy it which you didn't mention either.
