To Cap or Not to Cap?

When freezing strawberries, is there some advantage to leaving on the caps until thawing for use? Many thanks.

I would think that as long as you don't get them too wet before freezing, you can take off the caps. Just get off as much dirt as possible, then take off caps, pat dry w/ paper towel and place on cookie sheet and put in frezer. THen take them out and place in freezer bags. I never pick enough to freeze, I make jam, and we eat the rest.

Not that I ever heard of. Frozen strwberries are not as firm as fresh and I think it would not be fun dealing with the cap on frozen strawberries.
