Hi, I agree whole heartedly with petzold6596. They have the info and the willingness to help you with this large undertaking. Two things. One, draw up a sketch to scale and measure linear feet runs to supply the trees. This would be a mainline. Check prices in your area for schedule 40 pvc pipe 1 1/2" and 2" pvc pipe at the local hardware store (this doesn't account for irrigation fittings per tree). Count the number of trees and multiply by about $200 per tree (25 gal) depending on the size you want to plant and the speed of growth of the tree. Check the other forums about what would be a good interesting tree or trees for you area. Trees usually like infrequent soakings. Ask about a irrigation system that waters like that. Then two, aesthetically group trees somewhat together in odd numbers (with offsets) with differing size spaces between the groups around the perimeter. This will be a more pleasing natural look. Check out some landscaping design books before planting. This is not a small undertaking and getting bids from local landscapers might be worthwhile. Prices for landscapers are good right now. Welcome! In the 1st pic, the larger one in front is an Echeveria. Will have to wait till it grows out a bit-see if color changes with season-maybe figure out the species. In the 2nd pic, the one with a broken top looks like an xGrapto-something (intergeneric, Graptopetalum w/something else). The one behind it is a Sedum...perhaps S. adolphii or ax xGraptosedum. 3rd pic, the 2 look like either types of xPachyveria or xGraptoveria. 4th you said you don't need ID'd, but I'll agree with Karen, the larger one is Echeveria elegans. The smaller looks like E. lilacina to me. Do you have an ID on it?

If this plan is too big, then you'd best start over. You need to really isolate what it is you like about this plan and then look for another that still gives you what you want. You've done that to some extent about the DR, but you need to do more... this plan is great if you have lots of land to build on as it sprawls so much. But the fact remains, the only way to eliminate sq footage is to eliminate sq footage. Can you give up the office? The atrium (I'm assuming that's what that is)? One of the 3 1/2 baths? the very large laundry room? There are about a zillion home plans out there and one is sure to fit you're liking more...at which point you can then start tweaking it.

I have a cupboard just like yours above our fridge, where I keep my cook books. Like you, mine kept falling over and slipping to the back of the deep cupboard. Finally I stored a box of items which I don't use often, behind the books, to solve the slipping back problem. Even a box of seasonal items, like Xmas decorations would work. Then I got two heavy metal book ends from the office supply store, and use these to stop them falling over sideways. Another thing I did was reduce my cookbooks drastically. I have some I just love to look through for inspiration, even if I don't follow the recipes, and I won't part with them. But others that were just practical, I actually cut out the recipes I used, and put them into a plastic sleeve binder. Reduced about 8 books to one useful binder, but it seemed like sacrilege at first. Another thing I did with some of my favourite craft books was just put them into plastic sturdy magazine holders from the office supply.
