No Peek Casserole

I want to try it, but I am not a big fan of mushrooms. What could I use as a substitute? Thanks for any advice! (I am not much of a cook.)

I just leave them out completely. It's still wonderful.

I don't always add the mushrooms either. I have added baby carrots and that's really good.

The couple of times I've made it I just threw in whatever veggies I had on hand. Carrots, celery, potatoes, onions, mushrooms, caulflower, etc. All of them came out delish.

vthornberry, don't be afraid to experiment!

I've made it and didn't love it. Yes, it is easy, but it really isn't stew, even though I want to believe it is. It is thin, and the flavors, while decent, don't develop as nicely as a stew.
Still, not a bad choice, and a very easy one.

Oh, man, we LOVE the no peek casserole! I think the gravy is rich and thick. I serve it with rice. The next day I mix sour cream into it for beef stroganoff over buttered noodles. I make it a lot in the winter time.

2 cans Franco-american spaghetti with cheese sauce

1 1/2 lbs ground beef

1 can mushrooms

8 oz grated cheddar cheese

1 small onion, copped

Season with lemon pepper

Brown ground beef and drain. Mix with remaining ingredients. Bake 45 minutes. Sprinkle part of cheese on top. Bake at 350 degrees.
