| I was looking at your home's photo under the "Pictures of our Houses" thread and you were asking about what "kind of house" you had.
I think it's a kit home. It's not a SEARS kit home (which are the most well known), but it came from Lewis Manufacturing (based in Bay City, MI) and is the Lewis Montawk. Lewis Manufacturing was a fairly substantial company and in the early 1940s (as I recall) became Liberty Homes. Thought you'd enjoy knowing about this... Here's a picture of your house, compared with an old catalog picture (1924) of the Lewis Montawk. When new, this house sold for about $2500 and came in a kit with about 10,000 pieces of house, and a 75 page instruction book! Rose Thornton
