Our painter used oil cant remember name he put it on doors,beams,wood ceilings,my cabinets were wormy chestnut he put a couple coats on them look nice,its dark.

it was tung oil.

If your house is shedding modern paints it may be due to calcimine. Do a search on this forum and you will find many threads on how to deal with it. Also spelled many other ways, kalsomine.

fix it any your paints will adhere. Ignore it and I'm not sure anything will.
