| There's a radio ad on my local station for a company that will "clad" your kitchen counter and make it look just like a solid granite counter - for 1/4 the price of granite. Sounds too good to be true.
Is it? Has anyone ever seen this done? |

| I caught part of one of those HGTV shows (sorry don't know which one) while channel surfing, they were using a new product on the counter tops that replicated granite. It was a liquidy paste they spread over the existing counter top. They followed up with "spattering" of another color, texture etc. and it hardened very quickly and looked good from what you could see on tv. It might be worth looking into. |

| I don't know, but I wonder if they are perhaps using the existing counters as a substrate and then installing 2cm granite over them. The edges could be faced with the same 2cm and look like a thicker slab. DH and I thought about this after we had already installed granite tile countertops. We were worried that 3cm granite slabs would be too heavy for our old house and, in our rural area 3cm slabs were too expensive for us. 2cm is less expensive. I'd say call and ask questions, it couldn't hurt! |
