Product for refinished subfloor to help it resist damage & wear?

We are planning to remove the linoleum in our kitchen, laundry room and butler's pantry to expose the circa-1940 tongue and groove subfloor underneath. We'd like to refinish it and use it as the primary floor in those three rooms.

I'd like to know if there is any certain type of product we can apply to the subfloor to help it resist better dents and dings. The subfloor is pretty soft...it might be pine. I am able to make a little dent in it with my fingernail fairly easily. I am okay with some "character" on the refinished subfloor, but I want to make sure that we don't end up with a really beat-up looking mess after a few months. Heavy kitchen appliances, an undeclawed cat and my high heels are some of the things this floor will have to endure!

Does a product like the one I'm looking for exist?
