Kathy, we don't have shiplap in our house, but we have been house-hunting these past few weeks and have seen several houses that do have it. One we really liked was a very small cottage-style home built in 1948 - the entire attic was finished in beautiful honey-colored shiplap... my daughter loved it, that was going to be her room... My only thought, other than that it was really beautiful, was that having it on the ceiling made an already-small space look smaller. I think - if it had been some combination of shiplap walls and painted ceiling, if might have looked a little larger. That's just my .02... it's beautiful, but possible to have "too much," if you know what I mean. Maybe you could use it as accent wall material... or paint one wall an accent color?
