Cleaning the exterior

Our c.1880 pseudo-Victorian (one story) has its original wood siding. Almost two years ago we replaced some rotted out pieces, sealed as much as possible, and painted. White. Well, an almost white with a yellow tinge. Problem is cleaning it - the original wood has "texture" for lack of a better term which is wonderful for collecting dirt.

I'm afraid to just take a hose/sprayer to it for fear of chipping off paint - it's good paint and done well, but still....
