Having installed many paver walks over the years, IMO the best one is the one you like the looks of. The folks over on the landscape forum like to use seconds or whatever they can find cheap. The secret to a good paver job is careful site prep. Also, shoveling snow is a APITA with many pavers. I haven't had much trouble with the blower though.

IMO pavers look funny with most old houses; but, I'm not liking my brick walks any better. Anything other than concrete is hard to shovel and the more cracks/joints you have, the more weeds you get.

Pavers are made of brick, concrete and composites. What kind are you asking about?

I am asking about concrete pavers. We have them now but the walkway has sunk. Masons have told us we need to rip out everything and start over because of water run off
into the walk way. We need better soil prep.

Different pavers aren't going to solve the problem--that can only be done by better preparation...and most important, control the water run-off.

If the space isn't enormous, I'd opt for salvaged brick, or check into a local brickyard to see what they have...not a big box store.

Another idea, if the present pavers are fine, and you like them, re-lay those and save money.
