What color for front door - Victorian townhouse?

Hello.
We are coming to the end of a renovation project and new front doors are the last thing - yippee! The house was built in Brooklyn around 1878 as a working class home so it is modest in scale and level of decoration. Our renovation is a blend of old and new. That being said the exterior is traditional - flat red brick facade with brownstone stairs/sills and ironwork railings (regrettably, not old). We have replaced a "home depot" front door with double doors simulating the originals, but now I can't decide on the color. Until now, I was thinking about gloss black for both the trim around the doors and the doors themselves, which is very typical for homes in our neighborhood. As I look at the Fine Paints of Europe selection I am torn - bright red with black trim? Dark brown for all? Opinions?

Faux bois (grain-painting) was very popular in middle class & workman's housing in your time period. Like a mahogany or rosewood graining. Sometimes with light burlwood on the raised panels.
