My ashpalt roof 5/12 pitch needs to be replaced here in snowy Minnesota. I am looking at metal shingles;made from steel and coated with small stones. This is not a standing seam metal roof. Does anyone have any experience with these roof systems? Any cautions? The hot west sun beats on the roof a lot. Any good web resources? Consumer Reports doesn't have much to say. I may want to put solar panels on the roof in 5 or 10 years. Thank you.
