Holorib steel composite concrete decking

Curious if anyone has seen or heard of Holorib steel composite concrete decking used in a 1930's home. Even our housing inspector was surprised to see this. Was it a trend at this time? It is only on the main floor of the house. This home has hardwood throughout but the Holorib system can be seen in the basement ceiling.
